Because, tires will easily lose traction when accelerating or maneuvering. As a result, the driver can lose control. The principle works by utilizing the ABS sensor to read the difference in the rotation of the drive wheels. So if the car adopts front-wheel drive, then only the rotation of the two front wheels is monitored by the computer/traction control. And vice versa for cars with rear-wheel drive. If All-Wheel Drive (AWD) or 4WD, it means that all wheel rotation will be monitored. The computer will detect when the wheels are turning excessively due to reduced traction. Next, will order ABS brakes to help reduce wheel rotation. So that the tire traction on the road surface will be maintained.

In some cars, this traction control feature can be disabled. However, some manufacturers still allow stability control to work, even with the lowest sensitivity or not 100 percent. This safety feature is found on the Toyota Kijang Innova, Fortuner, New Suzuki Ertiga, Mitsubishi Xpander and Pajero Sport.

This security feature has a different name. Examples include Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and others. The stability control function keeps the car on track when maneuvering or when cornering. Stability control itself is an extension of the traction control feature. The way it works is almost the same, namely by using the ABS brakes to read the tires when they lose grip when maneuvering or cornering.

The way stability control works is more complicated by monitoring more parameters. However, stability control is more complicated than traction control, which only controls when the tire loses traction. This is because it also has the ability to intervene or change the maneuverability of the car, especially when understeer or oversteer symptoms occur. Thus, more parameters are monitored for stability control. For example, starting from the steering angle, open the gas to the force of gravity (g-force) when the car is cornering or maneuvering.

The stability control will read when one of the tires starts to spin or loses grip. In addition, this feature will detect when the car has maneuvered too extreme. Thus, the computer will immediately instruct the brakes to work on the side of the tire that has lost grip, so that the movement of the car returns to stability.

Stability control is also able to instruct the engine computer to reduce engine power that is considered too large when maneuvering. The trick is to reduce the supply of fuel to the engine. Thus, car maneuvers can be more controlled or even corrected.

The sensitivity of the stability control features is very different in each car. In sports cars, to supercars, the sensitivity of stability control can be made slower to provide a comfortable feeling while driving. Similar to the traction control feature, the stability control feature icon will flash on the dashboard instrument panel. The stability control feature is available on the Honda BR-V, HR-V, New Toyota Rush and Daihatsu Terios.
